A Glimpse of the Past

               

The Alexander Noble House Museum opens for the season in mid-June, featuring "A Glimpse of the Past," depicting Fish Creek life from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. By exploring topics of fishing, lumbering, and tourism, the visitor will feel like time has turned back.

The exhibit will be especially pleasing to individuals who love period clothing with gowns never displayed before. One room is filled with photos of the area from the turn of the century. Another room explores fur trapping and fishing. The Noble House is the oldest wood stick home in Fish Creek, built in 1875 by Alexander Noble, whose many roles included town blacksmith, postmaster, and town chairman, to name a few. It is an authentic example of a Greek revival farmhouse. Enjoy a tour of the 10-room home and experience a portrayal of domestic life in Door County at the turn of the century.
